Telecom industry may contribute 8.2% to GDP by 2020 by leveraging 5G
KOLKATA: The telecom industry’s contribution to GDP is estimated to reach 8.2% by 2020, by when industry players are slated to also leverage 5G technologies to connect with global markets and ring in a fully networked, knowledge and services economy, the Economic Survey 2018-19 said Thursday.
The Modi government plans to make India 5G-ready by 2020, and has signalled plans to auction 5G spectrum later this year.
5G and growth? Stupidity of thoughts
GDP growth through Telecoms are an imagination of the writers. S. vs. Vodafone,Idea and BSNL are in a trauma to achieve 4G while 5G is in door step.
Yep, with a Chinese Govt agency ( Hwuwei) implementing 5G the development will be truly phenomenal. Any time that China or Pakistan wants to sabotage or spy on our networks, they will have the power to do so.
@Sudhir jee, pls check the present data and stats...then comment..don''t live in unreal world. Do you know how many peoples have lost their jobs in last 2-3 years? Do you know how many telcos gone bankrupt in those years? Check the NPAs of banks due to stress in telecom sector. Don''t write literature here....check the data, do the math, analyze financial sector....interprete the data then comment.
Government has clearcut path for boosting Telecom in 5G.Do not kill the goose that lays golden egg
People from Experience of old India mindset have doubts. New India has no such problems..... in not only accepting but assimilating new ideas....... new thinking..... It had been happening in India in long back in past........
Present business model of Telecom sector is unsustainable. Sector is reeling under heavy debt and all of these debt are going to be NPA in near future for the banks. Various Government and it''s regulator have killed the golden goose of our country''s economy.
In future GDP, service sector like telecom will be the major contributors.
